  • ORIGINAL Birth Certificate(s) for children under 18
  • A valid, government issued ID with photo (no school or work ids will count)
  • Guardianship papers and a one page, stamped notary are required for all children who are being escorted by someone other than his/her legal guardian.
  • If you have child who uses formula be sure to have the formula and the bottle SEPARATE or you will not be allowed to bring it inside. NO car seats or carriers are allowed
  • If you need medication bring enough medication for the duration of the trip
  • One car key and one house Key
  • All cell phones must be left ON THE BUS they cannot come inside the prison (leave your stuff on the bus, the driver will remain with the items)
  • $30 Dollars can be brought for use at the vending machines

What to Wear

  • Get on the Bus shirt (you will receive the day of the event)
  • A sports bra (no under wire bras allowed)
  • Wear pants or skirts that are Black or white (Not leggings and not jeans!)
  • Skirts that are below the knee
  • Closed toe shoes (No Sandals)
  • Make sure clothing does not have multiple zippers or pockets
  • Please do not wear more jewelry than a wedding band or other important pieces this slows the whole process of getting inside to visit.

 

At the Prison

  • Be courteous to everyone prison guards, workers, and volunteers
  • If you are having an issue please find a GOTB staff member (wearing a white shirt) to help you –It is Get on the Bus’s duty to get you in and out of the prison easily so let them help!
  • Do not write on the mother and father’s uniforms they can be fined for damaging property
  • Babies Allowable Items Inside The Prison (CDCR)
  • Two small solid toys (less than 12 inches in length)
  • One infant Carrier (however last year they refused these and Maria had to take them back to the bus)
  • Six Disposable Diapers
  • Factory sealed baby wipes
  • Two transparent plastic baby bottles of pre-mixed formula/juice/milk per baby (must be separated per last year)
  • One transparent pacifier
  • Three jars of factory sealed baby food and one plastic baby spoon
  • One single layer baby blanket
  • One transparent diaper bad
  • One change of baby clothing
  • One single layer burp cloth
